Measurement technology intercomparison and evaluation

October 11, 2022

This report summarises the main findings of a set of emission characterisation experiments conducted as part of work package 1 of the CARES project. A range of controlled experiments were carried out at a test track location in the Netherlands using a range of tampered and untampered vehicles ranging from a scooter to a heavy duty vehicle. Individual vehicle measurements of different pollutant species have been compared across a wide range of vehicle operating conditions. The performance of a range of remote emission sensing techniques, including newly developed hardware, have been evaluated and compared with on-board emission measurements.
